Allyson Maynard-Gibson, QC
Allyson Maynard-Gibson QC, is a Consultant at the law firm Clement T.Maynard & Company, where she heads the digital assets and financial services practice. She also works in the Firm’s FDI, Immigration and Trusts and Estate Planning practices. Allyson is a known advocate for the rights of women and children and an expert in governance, restructuring and rebranding of organizations. She was the first Minister of Financial Services and Investment in The Bahamas and served twice as Attorney-General and Minister of Legal Affairs. A lady of many firsts, she is the first female in The Bahamas to become Her Majesty’s Counsel (QC), the first female to Chair the Board of Trustees of the University of The Bahamas and she led the legal team that resulted in FTX Digital Markets Limited becoming the first exchange to be registered under the Digital Assets and Registered Exchanges Act (“DARE Act”). Ms. Maynard-Gibson has served as an elected Member and as a Senator in the Bahamian Parliament. Currently, she serves as a member of the Justice leadership Group and as Assistant Director of International Trends and Services of The Links, Incorporated. She is a frequent speaker and writer in the international arena on people centered justice. Allyson was a member of the Task Force for Justice, that produced, in 2019, the “Justice for All” Report. In 2018, she served as a member of the first ever People’s Tribunal on Economic Crime in South Africa. In 2019, Allyson took a sabbatical at Harvard’s Advanced Leadership Initiative. Emerging from her sabbatical she has commenced work with several NGOs to broaden concepts of justice to include people centered justice, social justice and access to justice. Other leadership roles include, serving twice of Chairman of the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force; past global president of the International Women’s Forum and the Leadership Foundation; and, past Bahamas president of The Links, Incorporated.
