Marco Streng
Marco Streng is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Genesis Digital Assets, one of the largest industrial-scale Bitcoin mining companies in the world. In 2013 Marco was at University studying to become a mathematician when he came across the Bitcoin whitepaper. He quickly became fascinated by the underlying technology that makes bitcoin possible and assembled his first bitcoin miner in his dorm room. Marco observed that the ability to mine Bitcoin was widely inaccessible to those who lacked technological expertise and founded Genesis Mining with a mission to make it possible for anyone to mine bitcoin via the cloud. The company pioneered the cloud mining category and empowered over 2 million people to become bitcoin miners themselves. In 2018 Marco and his partner formed the Genesis Group and began incubating and investing in projects that provide infrastructure to emerging industries such as Blockchain and artificial intelligence. Over the years, Marco has been a vocal advocate for the Bitcoin mining industry, encouraging the industry to focus on powering operations from renewable energy sources and leading efforts to educate journalists, governments, and corporate leaders on the critical details about the industry. His advocacy efforts have appeared in more than two dozen media outlets including 60 Minutes, Anderson Cooper, and CNBC. Outside of Bitcoin mining, Marco supports several initiatives in Africa that aim to make education more accessible.
